Introduction

The People's Poet Corner Workshop" (PPCW) was an incredible opportunity for aspiring poets to explore the world of poetry and creative expression. The event, led by our Co-Founder and Head of Writers, Aarya Patil, provided valuable insights into various types of poems and how to approach poetry.
The event spanned two exciting days, featuring a workshop and a poetry competition for aspiring poets. We partnered with youth organizations and awarded certificates to all participants. The winning poems were published on our Instagram account, so be sure to check them out!
Day-1
On the first day, an interactive session introduced different types of poems such as Haiku, sonnets, and lyrical poetry. Aarya and our Project Manager Bhavya then led a meme-based group poem activity, where participants contributed lines to create a wonderful poem on the Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake feud.
We also had a fascinating discussion with the founder of Alexithymia Studios, our marketing partner, who shared their creative journey towards artistic expression. Alexithymia Studios is a youth-led, art-motivated organization that aims to explore unconventional aspects of life and art through different forms of media, inspiring change in the world.

Furthermore, we had the opportunity to learn about our NGO Partner Heart 4 Animals, a youth organization focused on stray animals' well-being. Their main goal is to challenge stereotypes about strays, raise awareness, and improve their living conditions, embodying the culture of creation and striving to create a world where all living beings can peacefully coexist.
Day-2
The second day featured an insightful session with our mentors and judges for the event, Mr. Sarabjot Singh Madan and Ms. Sonika Singh, who shared their inspiring works in both English and Punjabi. The participants gained valuable knowledge about various styles of poetry and then had the chance to submit their poems for the competition.
Sonika Singh has 30 years of experience teaching the English language in schools and colleges in Delhi, Pune, Belgium, and Holland. She earned her graduate honors and Master's in English Literature from Miranda House, Delhi University. She has also earned certification in Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania (USA). She is a certified Career and Success coach who has mentored students from India and abroad. She is also a poetess and an English language trainer.

Sarabjit is a versatile artist - a poet, a singer, and a musician. He loves to do poetry on his Kalimba, sing along with his Tongue Drum or Cajon, and create a vibe with his Djembe. He writes in Punjabi, Hindi, and English and aspires to add Urdu to his repertoire.

Highlight of the Event
Kendrick Lamar vs Drake feud

Poem On the first day of the workshop, there was an interactive session that began with a detailed discussion on the Drake vs. Kendrick feud, which is considered one of the greatest in the hip-hop scene. The discussion included the context and background of the feud, as well as the participants' own opinions and understanding of the event. This discussion then transitioned into creating verses that flowed from free thought, resulting in a wonderful group poem.
